Riding into the Sunset on Knox Mountain

Knox Mountain Park is one of the greatest gifts to the people of Kelowna. I say gift but it was actually sold to the City of Kelowna for $1.00 in 1939. Later in 1967, a large donation was from the Simpson trust was used to pave the road and establish what we now know as Knox Mountain Park. I didn't join the history of this park until 1996 when I moved to Kelowna. My first day in town I bought a bike and went for my first ride. I was in love.

Now back in the 90's there were not too many people mountain biking in the park. In fact, the park was pretty quite. The parking lot would be empty most week days and a few vehicles during the weekend. Fast forward to 2019 and it is one popular spot for all sorts of recreational activities. Hikers, road bikers, dog walkers, frisbie golfers and mountain bikers alike all share Knox Mountains. And in my experience, quite harmoniously.
